This spring the University of Georgia Press is hosting the Association of University Presses informational site, Ask UP. This site is an incredible resource for authors, university press staff, and those wanting to learn more about the scholarly publishing process in general. The site is hosted by a different member of the AUP community each quarter, and the University of Georgia Press is thrilled to have been selected for this session.
And in case you need a refresher on just what, exactly, is the Association of University Presses, the Ask AUP site is a good first stop to answer that question, too! According to the about page…
The Association of University Presses (AUPresses) is an organization of more than 150 international nonprofit scholarly publishers. Since 1937, AUPresses has promoted the essential role of a global community of publishers whose mission is to ensure academic excellence and cultivate knowledge. The Association holds integrity, diversity, stewardship, and intellectual freedom as core values. AUPresses members are active across many scholarly disciplines, including the humanities, arts, and sciences, publish significant regional and literary work, and are innovators in the world of digital publishing
Ask UP includes resources related to teaching, promotion, copyright and intellectual property, and preparing materials for publication. It also provides links to describe the life cycle of a book, from the perspective of a variety of university presses. If you’re a scholar with questions on how to find the right journal to submit your article, they’ve got you covered. Curious about digital publishing and just what that means (something we’ve dabbled in a bit ourselves)? There are scads of articles on the subject as well. Or if you’ve got a question about something else entirely, you can refer to the “Ask A Question” feature and someone will get back to you.
We look forward to hosting and sharing more info over the coming weeks. In the meantime, go on over to the Ask UP website and explore!
